Update on Public Toilets

Porlock Toilets

Since February the toilets situated at Doverhay Public car park have been vandalised 9 times, it has cost the Parish Council over £2000 to repair and an extraordinary amount of volunteer and professional time on a weekly basis attempting to keep at least one toilet functioning for the benefit of visitors and the community.

The Parish Council recognises the lack of availability is not satisfactory and have discussed numerous ways the situation can be rectified, none are particularly practical.

This programme of organised destructive anti-social behaviour is not limited to Porlock and has also been evidenced in Porlock Weir.  Porlock Parish Council, the Avon and Somerset Police and concerned residents would welcome assistance from the community (rather than simply complaining at the lack of availability) in catching the individual or individuals so that charges can be pressed if appropriate.

We are hoping the damage to Doverhay toilets will be repaired in the next week or so but until then the toilet situated at the Visitor Centre is to remain open within the hours of 10am – 6pm Monday – Sunday.
