Over the past year, hundreds of local enterprises have benefitted from the Somerset Start Up & Grow programme: a fully‑funded initiative designed to give business owners the expert guidance they need to plan, adapt, and grow with confidence.
Funded by Somerset Council through the Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, the programme has offered personalised, one‑to‑one support from experienced local business advisors. Whether tackling strategy, finance, marketing, operations, HR, or developing new ideas, each business received a tailored action plan shaped around their goals and challenges.
But now, the programme is reaching its final chapter.
Start Up & Grow has been extremely popular, with demand from business owners right across the county. From family‑run shops and creative studios to established SMEs looking to scale, participants have praised the practical guidance and fresh perspective the programme provided.
As we approach the end of February, the programme will be closing to new applications, and this is the final opportunity for Somerset businesses to take part.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible businesses must:
* Have fewer than 250 employees
* Be operating in or located within Somerset Council
* Be paying business rates or taxes to Somerset Council
