The Old School Centre incorporating the library is part of the Warm Welcome pilot with National Grid Electricity Distribution — working together to offer a little extra support during bad weather, and at times when the community may feel more impacted (including when power cuts happen).
As part of the pilot, the space will be able to:
☕ Stay open for longer during periods of bad weather
🔦 Offer practical items like torches to help people feel prepared
🤝 Provide a warm, friendly place to check in with others
🏡 Support residents through trained volunteers
It’s all about strengthening welcoming places people can rely on, and helping our community feel more confident and prepared, whatever the weather brings.
